The Science and Medicine Special Interest Group of the American Society for Indexing (ASI) is an alliance of skilled professional indexers. These professional indexers have backgrounds in medical, engineering, and scientific fields. They work in a variety of formats, including back-of-the-book, CD-ROM, and online systems. The members of the Special Interest Group (SIG) for Science and Medicine have the experience you are looking for in a professional indexer. The result of their work is quality indexing for your scientific, medical, and technical publications and databases.

Our Clients

Our clients come from a variety of disciplines in medical and scientific fields. They include academic authors, university and scholarly presses, medical publishers, and professional journals. We also work with medical, scientific, and technology groups; industry newsletter publishers; medical and scientific presses; and related organizations.

Why You Need a Professional Indexer

Research shows that people buy books and other information resources that are easy to use. They judge a product, in part, by the index. Discriminating readers always evaluate the style and content of the index. A professionally prepared index gives your product the accessibility that readers want to make it stand out from the competition.

Our Mission

The Science and Medicine Special Interest Group of the American Society for Indexing (Sci/Med SIG) was founded to promote excellence in indexing and to promote the professional advancement of its members. Through meetings, publications, and Internet resources, the Sci/Med SIG offers its members a forum for professional development, continuing education, and problem solving on issues related to the indexing of scientific and medical materials. The Sci/Med SIG, through special publications and by member participation at seminars and conferences, encourages a cooperative dialog between clients and indexers, as well as an awareness of the importance of excellence in indexing.

The Sci/Med SIG has created a brochure that describes our group and its mission. To view or download the brochure, click here.
